It goes without saying that the pictures featured on this site are from my own personal collection and are not to be used on any other web site. That's common sense, simple etiquette, and I'd greatly appreciate you not swiping them for use on other sites. (Um, pet peeve!)

Friends Made Along the Way

The truth is that I would've never seen as much of the country as I have, if not for my travels to see Bryan. I've seen more states in my year of travels than I have in the rest of my life combined. And what unique landmarks I've encountered along the way!

There was the giant, fiberglass Muskie of Hayward, Wisconsin...

STATS:

  • Serves as fishing museum
  • Enter through the belly, climb the stairs, and enjoy your view from the fishie's mouth
  • Up to 20 people can fit on the "jaw platform"
  • 4 1/2 stories tall
  • One half city block long
  • Really creepy

...and the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota.

STATS:

  • Yes, folks, that's real corn.
  • The building's entire exterior is covered in corn, including all murals
  • Seriously. That's real corn.
  • If BW ever plays at the Corn Palce, I'll fall over laughing
  • Inevitably also referred to as the "World's Largest Bird Feeder"
  • I swear. It's real corn.

I saw the St. Louis Arch, when I went to Missouri...

STATS:

  • C'mon. It's the Arch. You can't honestly think it's more exciting than the Corn Palace, can you?

And the Oklahoma City Memorial, when I went down to Oklahoma for New Years.

STATS:

  • Sadly, I think this one speaks for itself. I just wanted to go visit it, while I was in town. Moving on...

And on the way to Frazeysburg, Ohio, I encountered the Longaberger corporate office. If you're not already familiar with the name, I'll bet you can't figure out what their trade is...

STATS:

  • Seven stories tall
  • Handles weigh 150 tons (heated, to prevent ice forming)
  • Holds 500 employees
  • Was designed and shaped by Longaberger
  • Can be seen for miles, serving as great proof for Katie and me that we are, in fact, going the right way towards Frazeysburg.

While waiting for the gates to open for the show in Bowling Green, we also added "National Corvette Museum" to our list of unintended attractions.

STATS:

  • Has adequate air conditioning and friendly staff
  • Contains...um...Corvettes. And stuff.
  • That's all I know. Sorry. I'm not interested in cars and was only in there to escape the heat

So you see, not only do I get to see friends, watch a great concert, and relax...but I get an education on various United States Roadside Attractions!
